I’m Sydney Musselman of the East Grove Company and I hail from the east side of Downers Grove (see what I did there).
I’ve been a professional graphic designer for over 15 years and in that time I’ve worked with big name brands and small businesses, brides and new moms, and makers/artists on everything from hand drawn portraits all the way up to 53’ trailer vehicle wraps. Need some freelance work done? I’ve got a wealth of knowledge on print design and am always up for hearing about a new design or illustration project.
To help cope with the chaos of 2020 I took up watercolor painting - which turned out to be a gateway into acrylic paint markers and mixed media art.
When my worlds of design and fine art collide, that’s where it gets particularly interesting.
Wait, didn’t this used to be a husband and wife owned company? What happened to Mike? Where’d that laser go? Are you still making products and selling them at craft shows? I have so many questions?!
Mike still retains his part ownership of the East Grove Company, but by and large, he is travelling the world for his full-time job and no longer has time to be burning the midnight oil making East Grove’s products.
The laser is still around…for now. It turns out that I don’t really enjoy the physical act of making products so much as I love designing them, so I’ve shifted my primary business focus back to graphic design. This means that for the foreseeable future, you won’t find either of us in a craft show booth unless we’re shopping (we still love supporting the maker community). There’s a chance I’ll resurface at art shows someday as a fine artist, but that remains to be seen.
